INSIDE GREETING: True friends have no solitary joy or sorrow.
These adorable companions, depicted in the 1880s, share a tender moment over a broken drum. We sourced this image from the pages of the exquisitely illustrated poetry collection Under the Mistletoe, authored by Robert Ellice Mack and beautifully illustrated by Lizzie Lawson, a talented husband and wife duo! Elizabeth "Lizzie" Lawson (1867–1905?) was a Scottish artist renowned for her charming children's illustrations. By 1881, she was already a working artist in Chelsea, collaborating with her father John Lawson, a successful artist, on beloved children's books. In 1886, she married Robert Ellice Mack, a writer and editor, joining forces on various publications. Lawson's portfolio grew to over forty books, capturing children in carefree settings with delightful innocence. This product was custom-designed and printed at our location in Seattle.
